Drew: It's around 8pm here, but it feels like midnight after a whirlwind day of travel. Here are some thoughts...
- "Hola, Dios... gracias por todo. Gracias por las personas y la comida que estan aqui. Por favor... hace... haz... hace? mucho durante nuestro tiempo aqui, y.... gracias por todo. Amen"
So ends the first ever Spanish prayer I have ever spoken out loud. Awkward, short, halting... but still a prayer, I suppose. And the staff here at Portantorchas was very gracious, commenting that even trying is a blessing. It is a humbling thing, trying to speak a language you don't know very well, and especially when you are trying to say something eloquent to the creator of the universe... but I was reminded that Jesus was gracious with children and loved their presence, and since my Spanish is equivalent to that of a 5 year old (okay, fine... a 3 year old)... I suppose it all works out.
- I have never traveled on a "red eye" flight before. Brutal. I think I would have been better adjusted had I still be in college and been used to staying up till 2am. However, after getting only 3-4 fitful hours of sleep last night, I ended up crashing pretty hard this afternoon. The rain was a great sleep inducer.
- Costa Rica is muy bellisma. Very green. Not used to that, coming from LA and all. I am looking forward to exploring la ciudad de San Jose manana.
That's all for now. (imitating Ken Jeung's voice and hand gestures) Hasta luego!
