Day 5

Chris: Here's my first entry to this blog... I've actually been staying away from the computer/internet while here to kinda get a break from the things back home... it's been great... and oh so freeing. But since there are those on my team who say I don't blog... this is FOR YOU!!!!

From our previous posts you'll know that we've been painting the inside of the home for children. On Monday, when we arrived, we all agreed that a new coat of paint would do the Tia's home some good and really bring new life to the house. There was a lot of mold, scratches, "drawings" on the wall... and just other stuff that really needed to be covered over. So, we began the big task. By Thursday afternoon, we had finished the bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, and one hallway and I was thinking to myself that I couldn't even remember what the house looked like before we started painting. All I could see was the new paint. This made me think of our relationship with Christ. When we put our trust in Him, he gives us a new life and paints over the gross stuff, the things of our past, so that when He sees us, He doesn't see or remember our old self but our new painted self.

Though we are not done painting the house yet, you can just see what joy the new colors are bring to Tia's face. Every time she passes by one of the newly painted rooms, it automatically brings a smile to her face. I think this is also how the Lord views us. =)
